Braised chicken drumsticks in sweet soy sauce and nutmeg with vegetables and potato

Who doesn't love chicken kebabs? In this recipe, you make them in a delicious sweet soy sauce. Add some vegetables and potatoes and your meal is ready!

Ingredients:

  • 500 g CêlaVíta cooking potatoes
  • 800 g chicken drumsticks
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 100 g butter
  • 2 large onions, cut into half rings
  • 8 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 2 beef tomatoes, diced
  • 3 cloves
  • ½ nutmeg ball, grated
  • 200 ml soy sauce manis
  • 1 chicken stock cube
  • 200 g carrot, peeled and sliced
  • 1 leek, cut into rings
  • 1 yellow pepper, diced
  • 1 stalk of broccoli, in florets
  • 150 ml water
  • Salt, to tastea

Preparation

Step 1: Sprinkle the chicken drumsticks with pepper all around. Heat a large pan and melt 75 g butter. Fry the chicken drumsticks in the pan until golden brown all around and then add the sliced onion and garlic. Fry these for 3 minutes. Then add the diced tomatoes, cloves and grated nutmeg. Fry for another 2 minutes.

Step 2: Add the soy sauce manis and chicken stock cube to the pan. Mix everything together well. When the soy sauce boils, put the pan on low heat and put a lid on the pan. Simmer the chicken pieces for 45 minutes, turning them once in between. After 30 minutes, add the carrot pieces to the pan.

Step 3: After 45 minutes of simmering, add the leek rings and diced pepper to the pan. Let this simmer for another 10 minutes.

Step 4: Remove the potatoes from the bag and place them in a deep plate or microwaveable dish. Pour 150 ml of water to the potatoes and sprinkle a pinch of salt on top. Cover the microwave dish with a lid or close the plate with, for example, cling film. Depending on the grammage, place the potatoes in the microwave for 10 minutes at 900 Watt. After 10 minutes, remove the potatoes from the microwave and leave to cook for a minute. Pour off the water and shake the potatoes with a knob of butter added. Meanwhile, bring water to the boil to cook the broccoli florets until tender. Cook them al dente in 3 minutes.

Serve the casserole with chicken drumsticks and vegetables on the table with a separate bowl with the boiled potatoes and broccoli.
